Google Showing Interest To Invest In Malaysia

DAVOS, Jan 24 (Bernama) -- Google Inc, the Internet search engine giant, has shown interest to invest in Malaysia, said Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jamaludin Jarjis.

He said further discussions would be held with the US company on the matter.

Google's search utility and ease of use have made it one of the world's best known brands. As a business, Google generates revenue by providing advertisers with cost-effective online advertising.

In Asia, Google has offices in China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan.

Jamaludin, who is here for the World Economic Forum (WEF), said the country's Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) was now a community of almost 2,000 companies and more than 40,00 knowledge workers.

He said the community was not confined to Cyberjaya, the country's information and communications technology (ICT) hub, but also extended to other locations provided for under the MSC's area of coverage.

Jamaludin said Malaysia would host the 16th World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) in Kuala Lumpur from May 18 to 22.

He said Malaysia would take the opportunity to promote the WCIT at this year's WEF here as it would be the first Southeast Asian country to host the event.

The WCIT, which has been touted as the "Olympics of ICT", is expected to attract more than 2,500 delegates from more than 80 countries.

It is the flagship event of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (Witsa), a consortium of 173 international ICT organisations whose members account for more than 90 percent of the global ICT market.

Jamaludin said innovation, the theme at this year's WEF, had always been advocated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who wanted the country to progress further in the next 50 years just as it has done so in the last 50 years.

He said the Prime Minister had always stressed that Malaysia could not always depend on the success factors that had brought progress in the last 50 years.

Jamaludin said Malaysia could not always rely on the export of primary commodities in the future.

Future exports would have to be more innovative and backed by research and development, he said.

The Prime Minister, he added, had also stressed on the development of biotechnology and that Malaysia could not afford to be left behind in this field.

Jamaludin said the pursuit of knowledge among the young in Malaysia was an important item in the nation's development agenda, adding that the young in the country now had the benefit of a knowledge-based idol in Malaysia's first astronaut, Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor.

"This is a good sign for Malaysians," he said.

Everyone must help to find Sharlinie

Everyone must help search for five-year-old Sharlinie Mohd Nashar, said Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

“We must help the police find this little girl before anything untoward happens.

“We cannot waste any time, we must find this child. Not only to save her life, but also to send a clear message to the perpetrators – don’t think that in this country, you can do whatever crime or violent act you like,” she told a press conference here yesterday.

Organising the search: Musa (left) gesturing as he makes a point during the press conference as Shahrizat and Lim look on in Petaling Jaya Thursday.
She called on local leaders and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to start a search for Sharlinie as soon as possible.

“From what we’ve learned from Nurin’s case, we cannot waste even a minute. Every minute counts,” she said.

Eight-year-old Nurin Jazlin Jazimin went missing in August last year and her body was found in a sports bag a month later.

Shahrizat urged parents to be more responsible for their children.

“We must take care of our family members, especially the little children. We have to be the ones responsible in making sure that our own families are safe.

“Maybe we feel it’s all right that an area is safe but from what I can see, no area is safe. We have to always be careful,” she said.

Asked if there was a possibility of action being taken against Sharlinie’s parents, she replied: “The normal procedure is that the Welfare Department will come in immediately to see if there was negligence or not.

“But it is too early for me to say now whether there is a case or not.

“They will start an investigation. If there is a case, then we will have to make a decision,” she said.

Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya Selatan MP Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai visited Mohd Nashar Mat Hussain’s house in Taman Medan.

He said that his parliamentary service centre would give RM5,000 to anyone with information leading to her safe return.

He also distributed 5,000 posters in the area.

Wow! Now I can withdraw Paypal credits in Malaysia!

I've got an email today by some local marketerbuzzing the news about paypal. They say that we can now withdraw money from our paypal account. So I do a search on google see if I can find some resources..and here's one of them:

Hi everyone, I’m Vivian Hsiang, and I work on PayPal’s international products. I’m excited to tell you that PayPal is continuing to expand our presence around the globe. As you may remember, we recently announced PayPal’s expansion into 190 markets worldwide. We also added the ability to view PayPal.com in four languages including English, Spanish, French and simplified Chinese – allowing PayPal customers to shop online safely and easily in the language they prefer. New today, PayPal now offers account balance withdrawals to Visa-branded credit, debit, or prepaid cards in 26 international markets. This feature greatly improves the utility of PayPal accounts in these markets and is accomplished through an easy 3-step process.
Card_withdrawal_3

This new feature is particularly valuable to PayPal account holders in markets where customers could use PayPal to send money, but had limited ways to receive or withdraw funds. A good example is Brazil. In the past, customers in Brazil could only withdraw funds via a paper check. Now, Brazilian account holders can withdraw money in a secure environment and have their funds available for online and offline purchases using their preferred Visa card.

It is also exciting for our Italian customers where local PostePay cards are widely used. The new withdrawal method gives them the freedom to easily move funds from their PayPal accounts to the payment cards they prefer to use online or offline.

This new functionality is available in: Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Cyprus, Estonia, Gibraltar, Iceland, Indonesia, India, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Philippines, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, UAE, and Uruguay.

Today’s news offers great opportunities for PayPal to become even more relevant to merchants in many of our international markets. We are constantly evaluating new functionality around the globe, so stay tuned and visit our PayPal Offerings Worldwide page for updates.

Weight: 2.1kg

Price: RM3,429

Review unit courtesy of Acer Sales and Services, 1-800-88-1288

The Acer TravelMate 6291 has a very sleek black, solid exterior that is worthy of its business notebook status. Its compact design also makes it easier on business users who need a notebook for their travels.

Weighing 1.8kg, the TravelMate is no heavier than most other portable notebooks and is light enough to be carried about.

As far as mobility is concerned, the TravelMate certainly lives up to its name as a lightweight notebook.

On the inside, the TravelMate has a modestly sized 12.1in LCD but thankfully it comes in a 16:9 widescreen format. This means there is enough screen real estate for the average business user to work around with.

There are three USB ports available on the laptop, though a fourth would have been a nice addition. A nice touch to the design is the inclusion of markers on the top of the notebook to indicate the location of the ports.

Keys, buttons and touchpads

Another highlight of the TravelMate's design is the inclusion of a full size keyboard, which makes typing comfortable. While the keys are not entirely soft – they do make a bit of noise when you type continuously – they do give you solid tactile feedback.

We also like how the keys around the keyboard are arranged in an orderly, easy-to-reach fashion – like how the screen brightness and volume control are tied in with the arrow keys for easy reach. This is especially useful if you want to make a quick adjustment to the volume or brightness.

The touchpad also feels really responsive – while it doesn't feature any fancy shortcuts tied to the corners of the touchpad, it has a useful navigation button that is good for up, down and side scrolling.

At the very right end of the keyboard are some helpful shortcut buttons that give allow to turn on the Bluetooth and WiFi capabilities and access to your web browser and e-mail client.

For work and play

The TravelMate is powered by an Intel Centrino Duo T5500 (1.66GHz) processor. As far as our real-world tests show, the TravelMate is certainly a dependable notebook for multitasking.

To test the TravelMate's performance, we ran a wordprocesser, surfed the Web, played music and watched some videos simultaneously and the notebook performed without any hitches.

Speaking of performance, we tested the TravelMate's battery stamina by playing a movie and some music in the background while surfing the Internet.

We found that the TravelMate was able to last up to three hours with all the applications and WiFi running in the background, certainly more than enough to get some work done while on the go.

The TravelMate isn't all about work though, as it is no slouch when it comes to delivering entertainment.

The little 12in screen makes up in quality where it lacks in size, displaying crystal clear, brightly coloured pictures and videos.

However, while everything looks and plays good, the sole thing that holds the TravelMate back from being a good multimedia notebook is its sound quality. There's simply no distinction between mid-range, bass or treble, resulting in rather "muddy" sounding audio.

Additionally, the TravelMate comes with a built-in Acer Crystal Eye webcam and microphone. These certainly come in handy if you need to make a video-conference call while you are away from home.

And the other stuff

On top of being a feature-packed notebook, the TravelMate comes with some useful preinstalled applications.

At the very core of Acer's list of helpful notebook applications is the collection of widgets (small applications) that help users manage their notebook functions.

Most of the widgets act as shortcuts that provide you quick access to important notebook stuff like selection of wireless networks, power setting adjustments and the toggling of screen resolution for presentations or normal viewing.

Safe and secure

For the paranoid users among us, the TravelMate comes preinstalled with some handy security and backup applications.

The notebook comes with Acer's eDataSecurity Management, an application that allows users to encrypt their documents, files or entire folders with just a right-click of the mouse.

Encrypting and decrypting documents is a simple process that merely involves setting up a password to protect your files – certainly useful if you want to keep your important documents away from prying eyes or make it more difficult for unwanted users to access them even if you have lost your laptop.

Other useful widgets include the eRecovery Management tool that creates a backup image of your system that will sit on your hard disk for easy recovery in the event of a system crash.

Conclusion

The Acer TravelMate 6291 is a dependable notebook that can meet the needs of most mobile users. Its weight of 1.8kg makes it easy to carry around and to top it off, it comes with plenty of helpful preinstalled applications.

The TravelMate is also a capable entertainer, playing movies, music and games while being a serious work machine. However, its built-in speakers are disappointing so it would be wise to invest in a good pair or headphones or portable speakers.

Aside from that, the TravelMate has all the makings of a solid travelling companion for those long journeys away from home.

Pros: Lightweight; good multitasking performance; plenty of helpful preinstalled applications.

Cons: Poor sound quality.

Guru lahirkan anak 12 tengah malam merdeka

Kamen Rider The Next - 2007 (Oh yeah!)

The first teaser trailer for Toei’s upcoming theatrical film MASKED RIDER THE NEXT (Kamen Raidaa Za Nekusuto, 2007) has been released on the film’s official website. The new film is a direct sequel to MASKED RIDER THE FIRST (Kamen Raidaa Za Faasuto, 2005), featuring the return of Masked Riders 1 and 2, and the introduction of Masked Rider V3.

Just as MASKED RIDER THE FIRST was a loose re-telling of both Shotaro Ishinomori’s original manga and Toei’s MASKED RIDER (Kamen Raidaa, 1971) TV series, MASKED RIDER THE NEXT is set to re-tell the story behind Toei’s MASKED RIDER V3 (Kamen Raidaa Buisurii, 1973) TV series.

Actors Masaya Kikawada and Hassei Takano are returning from MASKED RIDER THE FIRST as Takeshi Hongo (Masked Rider 1) and Hayato Ichimonji (Masked Rider 2) respectively, while Kazuki Katou steps into the role of Shiro Kazami (Masked Rider V3). 22-year-old Katou previously appeared in the MASKED RIDER KABUTO (Kamen Raidaa Kabuto, 2006) TV series as Daisuke Kazama, the alter-ego of Masked Rider Drake, as well as the series’ accompanying theatrical film MASKED RIDER KABUTO: GOD SPEED LOVE (Kamen Raidaa Kabuto Goddo Supiido Rabu, 2006).

2 years after the events of MASKED RIDER THE FIRST, rumours are spreading of vicious murders, which are always accompanied by the song of a young pop idol named Chiharu. After Chiharu disappears, her older brother Shiro Kazami goes in search for her, and inevitably finds himself in the hands of the organization “Shocker”. It is here, where a new generation of Riders are being created, that Shiro Kazami is transformed into Masked Rider V3.

MASKED RIDER THE NEXT is set to open at theatres in Japan from October 27th 2007.

Meanwhile, MASKED RIDER THE FIRST was recently released on DVD in North America by Media Blasters.

Youtube and their Video Editing Tool! wow!

YouTube has launched a new online video editing tool called YouTube Remixer. If you've got a cheap digital camera, you're pretty much ready to upload home movies to YouTube. But if Final Cut or even Windows Movie Maker aren't your cup of tea, YouTube's new features let you do all the basics online.

YouTube Remixer lets you add text, graphics, or audio to your videos. You can also create transitions between scenes in your video. The feature looks a lot like Photobucket's "Remix" feature, which shouldn't be surprising since they share more than a name. Both are powered by Adobe Premiere Express. If you need a serious editing tool, look elsewhere (and don't really expect to find any satisfactory online solution), but for a quick nip and tuck, YouTube Remixer is a nice addition to the online video site.

Sony Vegas Requirements

A lot of people asks me what software d I use for developing montage videos. the answer is sony vegas. It used to be sonic foundry vegas but sony bought the software thus the name changed. The followings is a blog post by Eugenia about the requirements for installing the software. I hope this info will be helpful.

Don’t believe Sony’s own “minimum requirements” lists. These are sub-minimum in reality. While other NLEs are able to work with DV or HDV requiring fewer resources (e.g. iMovie is one of them), Vegas is a beast (although it is not as demanding as Premiere/AfterEffects). Here’s what you need to work without headaches:

For miniDV (720x480i, Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8 ):

- Any CPU released after 2003.
- 1 GB RAM minimum (1.5 GBs will be optimal).
- 120+ GB IDE NTFS-formatted hard drive (don’t forget to delete your temp/storage files after rendering the final).
- Windows XP. Their version 8 software doesn’t work perfectly on Vista yet.
- Any DirectX 9+ 64MB+ graphics card.
- A 1440x900 LCD monitor or above (1280x1024 will be pushing it to fit the UI).
- In the Settings/Video preference panel, make sure the “dynamic RAM” is set to 256 MBs.

For HDV (1440x1080i, Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8 Platinum):

- Any CoreDuo or higher CPU (basically, any CPU developed on 2006 onwards that was not a Celeron-class). My own 3 Ghz P4-Hyperthreaded CPU from March 2005 is pushing its limits with HDV on Vegas.
- 2 GB RAM minimum (3 GBs will be optimal).
- Two SATA NTFS-formatted hard drives. The system 120+ GB drive will hold the “temp” files, while all other work, rendering and archiving should be done on the second, 500 GB SATA disk.
- Windows XP Pro. Their version 8 software doesn’t work perfectly on Vista yet.
- Any DirectX 9+ 128MB+ graphics card.
- A 1680x1050 LCD monitor.
- In the Settings/Video preference panel, make sure the “dynamic RAM” is set to 512 MBs.
- A PCI/PCI-express sound card (meaning, not on-board AC-97 crap).

For full HD (1920x1080p, Sony Vegas 7):

- The highest-end CPU(s) you can find in the market.
- 4 GB RAM.
- Two SATA NTFS-formatted hard drives. The system 250 GB drive will hold the “temp” files, while all other work, rendering and archiving should be done one the second, 500 GB SATA disk.
- Windows XP Pro. Their version 8 software doesn’t work perfectly on Vista yet.
- Any DirectX 9+ 128MB+ graphics card.
- A 1680x1050 LCD monitor or above.
- In the Settings/Video preference panel, make sure the “dynamic RAM” is set to 768 MBs.
- A good PCI/PCI-express sound card.

Google TiSP (BETA) is a fully functional, end-to-end system that provides in-home wireless access by connecting your commode-based TiSP wireless router to one of thousands of TiSP Access Nodes via fiber-optic cable strung through your local municipal sewage lines.

Installing TiSP

Installing a typical home TiSP system is a quick, easy and largely sanitary process -- provided you follow these step-by-step instructions very, very carefully.

#1 Remove the spindle of fiber-optic cable from your TiSP installation kit.

#2 Attach the sinker to the loose end of the cable, take one safe step backward and drop this weighted end into your toilet.

#3 Grasp both ends of the spindle firmly while a friend or loved one flushes, thus activating the patented GFlush™ system, which sends the weighted cable surfing through the plumbing system to one of the thousands of TiSP Access Nodes.

#4 When the GFlush is complete, the spindle will (or at least should) have largely unraveled, exposing a connector at the remaining end. Detach the cable from the spindle, taking care not to allow the cable to slip into the toilet.

#5 Plug the fiber-optic cable into your TiSP wireless router, which has a specially designed counterweight to withstand the centripetal force of flushing.

#6 Insert the TiSP installation CD and run the setup utility to install the Google Toolbar (required) and the rest of the TiSP software, which will automatically configure your computer's network settings.

#7 Within sixty minutes -- assuming proper data flow -- the other end of your fiber-optic cable should have reached the nearest TiSP Access Node, where our Plumbing Hardware Dispatchers (PHDs) will remove the sinker and plug the line into our global data networking system.

#8 Congratulations, you're online! (Please wash your hands before surfing.)

Note: If you have any difficulty installing, operating or simply living with TiSP, we suggest joining the TiSP Help Group.

Advanced TiSP Options

Professional Installation Service
You can also choose to request our professional installation service, which dispatches an army of factory-trained, sub-contracted nanobots from the TiSP Access Node. The nanobots travel with exhilarating nano-speed through the sewer system and into your home to perform the installation service, which should be complete within 15 minutes. Note: For your own physical safety and emotional well-being and in consideration of the nanobots' working conditions, please make absolutely certain that your toilet is unoccupied at the scheduled appointment time.

In-Commode Package Delivery
With professional installation service, you can also have your Google Checkout purchases delivered directly through the sewage network into your bathroom. Each package comes pre-sealed in a watertight and nanobot-resistant bag made of biodegradable corn-based plastic. For a limited time, TiSP subscribers who sign up for a Checkout account will receive free bathroom delivery on their first ten Checkout purchases.

TiSP for Enterprise
We're actively developing a higher-performance version of TiSP specifically tailored to small and medium-sized businesses, including 24-hour, on-site technical support in the event of backup problems, brownouts and data wipes.
